Urinary tract infection (UTI)

Stinging, frequent or painful urination.

Stinging when you pee, frequent urge or pain in the lower abdomen are typical signs of a urinary tract infection. A clinician quickly assesses your symptoms and helps you to the right treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to give a urine sample?

Not always. With typical symptoms in otherwise healthy adults, treatment can start without a sample. The clinician asks for one if the picture is unclear.

What if I have a fever and back pain?

Fever, chills and flank pain can point to a more serious infection (kidney infection). You should then be examined in person — the clinician will help you quickly.

With a high fever, severe back pain or feeling very unwell: call 116117 in Norway — or 113 if life is at risk.
